Captured on camera: solo ocean racing pt2
Sunday February 10th 2002, Author: James Boyd, Location: United Kingdom
In the second part of Christian Fevrier's historic photo gallery, brought to you in association with the Blue Green photographic agency in Cowes, we feature some of the ground breaking events of the 1980s and 90s that helped forge the modern day sport of singlehanded ocean racing .
Over this period we saw the advent of the first round the world BOC Challenge, the development of the modern day 60ft trimarans following the disastrous 1986 Route du Rhum and the first running of the epic non-stop singlehanded round the world race - the Vendee Globe Challenge.
Christian Fevrier demonstrates an early form of kite sailing in the crystal waters off Bora Bora
