In part two of Christian Fevrier's gallery, in association with the Blue Green photo agency, we look at the 1980s and 90s

One of the most radical monohulls in the 1984 race was Warren Luhr's Open 60 Thursday's Child, fitted with a canting rudder and a gimballing chart table seen here. A similar gimballing chart table arrangement was used on Michel Desjoyeaux's PRB, who arrived back in Les Sables d'Olonne first in the Vendee Globe a year ago today.



Also in the 1984 OSTAR was Tony Bullimore who was sailing the 40ft trimaran City of Birmingham. At the time Tony was in the process of building the first Apricot trimaran, precursor to the modern generation of 60ft trimarans.
