Soft attachment loups
Developed for Harken by Aramid Rigging in conjunction with Yale Cordage, Harken Loups are ready-made soft attachments that replace heavy stainless steel shackles on racing and cruising boats.
“The first Loups were tested aboard Team Adventure in The Race, “ said Bill Goggins Harken’s Marketing Manager. “Thirty Loups replaced the boat’s shackles and attachment points for blocks, headsails and furlers. The weight savings was over 200 lbs (91 kg).”
Strong and lightweight, Loups are constructed using multiple coils of tough Dyneema covered with Spectra - one of the most durable materials made. A proprietary annealing process ensures loads are equal on all Loup. Colored tracers on the cover specify Loup strength by indicating the number of Dyneema coils. The tracers also serve as wear indicators.
Most Loup configurations are made by taking the block apart. They are designed for use with Harken Straphead blocks. A joining-pin called a Dogbone joins a Loup to itself without taking the block apart.
Prices start from £30.31.
