Sir Peter on Alcyone in the Black Sea. On July 1998, the Cousteau Society yacht, with Sir Peter Blake onboard, was one of the first foreign vessel to be allowed to enter in the Russian inside waters. Starting from Istanbul, the yacht sailed through the Black Sea, the Azov Sea, then entered in the Don Canal and its 18 giant locks built under Stalin.

Then she sailed down the Volga River to the Caspien Sea to do an ecological survey with scientists and divers on board.
