The friendship between the American router Bob Rice and Peter was very high.

Bob was certainly a key factor for them breaking the Jules Verne Trophy and winning the two last America's Cup. I have worked with him closely on behalf of Laurent Bourgnon in two races: the Transat Jacques Vabre in 1997, when Laurent and his brother won with a 450 mile lead in their belt and one year later, for the singlehanded Route du Rhum, which Laurent won a second time, but only by three hours.

The long term vision from Bob is absolutely phenomenal and I have the greatest admiration for this very humble, softly spoken man.
