During the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup, Sir Michael Fay delighted all the media to an early morning wake up call when at sunrise he arrived at the San Diego Yacht Club in a Maori war canoe. On board, with the Maori warriors were the Chairman of the NZ Challenge, Peter Blake and Rod Davis, dressed in Maori cloaks made with the feathers from very rare birds.
