Tuesday May 15th 2001, Author: Sian Cowen, Location: United Kingdom

Also in 2000, Robert was the leading UK 18ft Skiff skipper, winning the UK Grand Prix, the UK Nationals and the Europeans. He was in a strong position to win the World Championship in Sydney in January 2001, but was robbed by having two broken bowsprits.
Before that Robert won the 1999 Ultra 30 Grand Prix at his first attempt and he has also been a leading skipper in 49ers and 470s. He is well established as one of the best high performance sailors in the UK.
Race 1 Director Philip Crebbin commented "Having a person with as strong a top sailing background as Robert join the Race 1 team is great news for the company at such an important stage in our development."
