madforsailing subscription

As you may have gathered (!) free access to madforsailing is to be switched off tomorrow and anyone who has subscribed should by now have received a user name and password by email. If you haven't then please let us know. Today is your last chance to sign up for £14.99 instead of the full rate of £24.99 as of Monday morning.

We are still receiving email from unhappy individuals (thank you tom@gostickyoursubscribtionswherethesundontshine.com) who don't think we're worth it. But as we've pointed out on many occasions the success of this subscription is a matter of our survival and your continued enjoyment. We are not money-grabbing scumbags, but simply trying to make this baby break even, as mould-breaking a move as it may be. So far, our numbers suggest we are on the right track.

madforsailing would like to thank all of you who have subscribed and hope you will spread the word about our website to your friends, colleagues and sailing chums.

I am regretting paying my sub on day 1. Enticements all coming in now. Or should I? Do they apply to subs already paid?

Unfortunately the enticements posted recently only applied over the course of the time period stated. Those who sign up today (Sunday), for example, their names will go into a hat to win some Murphy&Nye deck shoes . However never fear...we will be running more competitions throughout the year where you won't have to take out a subscription...

From Aileen Clark
I immigrated to Canada many years ago from the UK, where I had cruised and raced offshore and then raced in several dinghy classes. I enjoy comparing different view points on different issues and hearing about the classes and places where I used to sail. Sail Sail.com and Quokka were 2 of my favourite web sites and I was sorry to see their demise. I have subscribed so that I can check what is happening in sailing in many parts of the world and contrast your views with those of North American sites. My son is competing in the Volvo and has competed in the Olympics. His sisters are also competitive sailors. Web sites devoted to sailing allow me to track the events in which they compete and enliven conversations when we occasionally meet in the same place. The family has chartered a boat in Miami for a week, during the Volvo stopover. We all went to Southampton for the start so imagine the stories to be told when we are in Miami.

Thanks for your support Aileen. Sailsail and Quokka went under because they weren't making money. We don't plan to make the same mistake...

We also had an enquiry from a Mac user who was having trouble getting through to our encrypted registration page. We have tried this and not experienced any problems. The fault may lie in not having the latest browser. Otherwise you can sign up by post - send a cheque made payable to madforsport.com to Madforsailing subscriptions dept, Bradley Pavilions, Bradley Stoke North, Bristol. BS32 0PP

If you've had any trouble subscribing see our FAQs about the subscription otherwise let us know.
