Team Hydros, the Swiss campaign for this year’s International C-Class Catamaran Championship in the UK, has won a coup: It will organise the next event in 2015. The 'Little America's Cup' is due to be held in September 2015 in Geneva at hosted by the Société Nautique de Genève.

Located at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Team Hydros is fielding two boats in this September's International C-Class Catamaran Championship in Falmouth. In their creation of these sailboats the EPFL has achieved several world firsts, including, among others, building their boats using Thin Ply Technology (TPT) as used in 3Di sails and TPT masts.

With today's next Jérémie Lagarrigue, head of the Hydros Project, was delighted: “We were able to beat many other applicant countries in the bid for this. It was the reliability and the attractiveness of our approach that convinced the judges. It is a great honour and accomplishment for our team. We will now fight hard to organise an event at the highest level to share with the general public.”

Vincent Hagin, President of Swiss Sailing, the Swiss Sailing Federation, added: “This is excellent news for Swiss sailing, for the Société Nautique de Genève and Team Hydros. This event will demonstrate the dynamism of the Swiss sailing, both at the individual and club level, as well as for the companies involved. From this amazing platform we will be able to show the best of what the sport of sailing has to offer.”
