Following her successful attempt on the Cowes-Dinard record, the maxi-trimaran Lending Club 2, skippered by Renaud Laplanche and Ryan Breymaier, has crossed the Atlantic and is now ready to set out to break the Newport-Bermuda record.

A favourable weather window has opened in the early hours of Sunday morning when the team, sailing the former Groupama 3/Banque Populaire VII maxi tri, will cross the start line at Castle Hill Light in its attempt to better the present record for the 635 mile course of 38 hours, 35 minutes and 53 seconds (average speed of 16 knots) set by the late Steve Fossett and his crew aboard the 125ft maxi-catamaran Playstation.

In addition to her skippers, the Lending Club Sailing crew for this attempt will comprise Captain Jan Majer (USA); Navigator Boris Herrman (GER); Roland Jourdain (FRA); Jean-Baptiste Le Vaillant (FRA); Stanislas Delbarre (FRA) and Quin Bisset (NZL) who handles onboard media.
