Piet Vroon acquires successful Ker 51

Piet Vroon has acquired the Ker 51 Varuna as his new boat Tonnerre 4. The boat will be launched in Key West in January 2015. Varuna was launched in 2012 and was the overall winner of the Sevenstar Round Britain & Ireland Yacht Race in 2014.

Tonnerre 4 has a schedule which will see her participate in Key West Race Week, the RORC Caribbean 600 and les Voiles de Saint Barth before heading back to the UK to focus on Vroon's 26th Fastnet campaign build-up, including the RORC domestic season, Round the Island and Cowes Week.

Piet Vroon commented: "I'm very proud of what our team has achieved over the last six years campaigning Tonnerre de Breskens 3, but for next year I wanted a slightly bigger boat with similar characteristics to Tonnerre 3 and Varuna was a suitable choice with a good track record. So far I'm very pleased with the new boat and my crew and I are very much looking forward to next season."
