Solo skipper injured off north coast of Spain

At 21.23 the Race Committee boat of La Solitaire du Figaro received an emergency call from boat Joanna. Skipper Louis-Maurice Tannyeres, informed them that he was suffering from strong pain in one shoulder due a fall. The accident happened 3 miles off Cedeira on the northern coast of Spain.

On advice of race doctor Jean-Yves Chauve, the Race Committee decided to evacuate the skipper to hospital. The French Navy's ship PSP Flamant, with the help of the RIB Hurricane, transferred a crew member from the race committee boat on to Joanna and Tannyeres has been evacuated.

The rescue operation was conducted without fault. Despite rough conditions, with 20-25 knots of wind and choppy seas it was completed by 23:00.

The ship PSP Flamant is heading to La Coruna to disembark the skipper who will be transferred to a hospital for further examination. The boat Joanna is being delivered to Gijòn.
