For the singlehanded Figaro sailors

Last night's rounding of Ouessant on the north west corner of France has reshaken the dice once again in the final moments of the Solitaire du Figaro's final leg.

At the 0200GMT position sched last year's winner Eric Drouglazet was leading from Jeremie Beyou and Ronan Guerin. Now meteorologist Gilles Chiorri is into first place.

At present the boats are sailing along the northern coast of Brittany in light 5-10 knot northerly winds, but they must leave the shore at some stage to make the dash across past the Channel Islands to the top of the Cherbourg peninsula.

The main tactics today will be how the skippers play the tide. At present the tide is favourable, but will start setting them north west from 1100 GMT and will be directly against them from 1400GMT until 1700 GMT.
