Finally luck is coming the way of Olivier de Kersauson's and his team on board Geronimo who have notched up 517.30 miles in the 24 hours leading up until 2317 this evening as they continue to reach in the northeasterly trades. In one fell swoop their unexpected 500+ mile day runs over the last two days now have put them ahead of both the relative positions for Orange's record and Cheyenne's current passage.

“We’re making about 25 knots over the surface in 20 knots of winds with intermittent squalls under full main and solent," said de Kersauson earlier. "Fortunately, Geronimo is fast in light-to-medium weather conditions. We’re not losing any time now, but we certainly need to make some up!” Earlier Geronimo covered 334 nautical miles in 14 hours; an average speed of 24 knots.

Conditions are still looking favourable for de Kersauson and his crew with a lane of northwesterlies due to kick in and built tonight.
