Well it had to happen sometime. Finally, after a blistering run through the Southern Ocean and incredible luck belting up the coast of Brazil, Francis Joyon and his trimaran IDEC have stalled. In the last 24 hours they have covered just 137 miles.
This morning Joyon has been passing Recife at the bulge in Brazil. While the wind is light at the least the gradient wind is a favourable east southeasterly and these look set to hold until Joyon gets north of the equator.
