Fresh challenge ahead

Having recently set a record for The Challenge of 17 days, 13 hours, 32 minutes and 39 seconds for the circumnavigation of Australia,
so Geronimo Olivier de Kersauson's Capgemini and Schneider Electric-sponsored maxi-trimaran is to attempt a number of records within the Asia Pacific region over the next few months.
The maxi triamran will firstly head to Papeete in Tahiti and then onto the west coast of the USA. The Tahiti Nui Challenge will set a new benchmark record following the rules of the WSSRC for a Sydney to Tahiti passage. The start line will be a transit line from Hornby Light House located on South Head of Sydney Harbour to the Light House located on North Head at the entrance to Port Jackson.
Geronimo’s course will see her pass north of New Zealand heading for the finish line off the entrance of Tahiti's Port of Papeete. The distance for this record is approximately 3,310 nautical.
Oliver de Kersauson and his 10 crew will departure from Sydney on 26 July. "We are looking forward to setting a new benchmark for this record between two countries that I cherish. Australia is the home of my ancestors and French Polynesia is where I have many of my closest friends. I hope this record will help Australians discover the wonderful lands of French Polynesia," commented de Kersauson on the announcement of the Tahiti Nui challenge.
