Brian Thompson sailed the 35ft tri Transient to a class victory in 1992In 1992 Etienne Giroire sailing his Walter Greene designed 40ft trimaran, Up My Sleeve , set a time of 16 days, 6 hours and 45 mn - a faster time than any 50 footer has ever set.

Laurent Bourgnon won two Route du Rhum's on Primagaz, but could only managed fifth place in 1992 before capsizing in 1996
