One week after the end of the Antigua Sailing Week two Volvo Ocean 60s will be racing back from Falmouth, Antigua to Falmouth, England.

Derek Saunders' Venom (the old Merit Cup) will be up against Hamish Oliphant's Spirit (the former Tyco).

From this match race World Cruising Club, a division of Challenge Business, have launched the Atlantic Challenge. Starting on Saturday 8 May, 2004, this will be open to any yacht with an IRC TCC of 1.140-1.450 with a minimum length of 58ft (the same as for the Challenge Business' Corinthian Challenge).

The number of prizes will depend upon the level of entries there will be. The VO60 owners will be donating the Atlantic Challenge Trophy for the first Volvo boat to cross the line. There may be additional prizes for overall line honours and first on corrected time. Entry fee is £1,000.

The owners of Venom and Spirit are both offering places on board their yachts.
