Sailing for Heroes will take place in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight over 2-4 July, organised by The Yarmouth (Isle of Wight) Harbour Commissioners and supported by Royal Solent Yacht Club.

Online registration and payment facilities for the Sailing for Heroes regatta together with associated hospitality events has now gone live and anyone wishing to either take part in the racing or come along to the shore based activities should log on here for further details.

The regatta will be run alongside military themed land based activities throughout the weekend which will include ‘Spice Island’ on 2 July – a culinary feast presented by Cyrus Todiwala OBE - and a ‘Gala Dinner’ on 3 July. Both events are supported by Chefs for Heroes, an organisation formed from the Masterchefs of Great Britain Association.

Help for Heroes is an organisation formed to help Servicemen and women who have been wounded in Britain’s current conflicts. The Help for Heroes charity provides support through fundraising appeals and passes capped grants on to those charities and groups best able to provide the facilities and services that aid the rehabilitation process.

Help for Heroes also supports the tri-service initiative Toe in the Water which aims to inspire those who have sustained traumatic injuries, including the loss of limbs, to move beyond their disability and become re-inspired by life. Competitive sailing is a physically and mentally challenging, adventurous sport and provides a unique opportunity for injured men and women to sail and race on equal terms with their able-bodied contemporaries. Toe in the Water will also benefit from the funds raised through Sailing for Heroes Regatta.

Chris Lisher, Chief Executive/Harbour Master commented: "Early indications are showing us that this is going to be a popular event and we are recommending that anyone interested in entering the regatta or attending the functions and events throughout the weekend should book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The regatta and land based events are our tribute to Britain’s serving armed forces whilst raising the much needed funds for both Help for Heroes and Toe in the Water. I am also delighted to announce that the Royal Logistics Corps and the TA have just confirmed their attendance during the weekend and will be putting on military displays."
