An update on Victory Challenge's activities at their base in Valencia

Victory Challenge, Sweden’s two-time challenger for the America’s Cup, is one of the many America’s Cup teams working hard to survive in this dormant period of the Cup’s history. While many of the sailing team members are involved in other projects in the busy summer sailing season, the management and shore crew have been working hard at securing commercial deals to exploit the team’s assets, namely its Valencia base and the fleet of sailing and power boats currently stationed there.

“People in the Valencia port area will have noticed that we moved SWE-73 out of the
shed late last week, nothing remarkable in itself, but today we stepped the mast and that
usually signifies that you are serious about going sailing,’’ commented Johan Stenman, Victory Challenge’s CEO. “We have secured a deal with “Volkswagen Financial Services” for a week long package of sailing activities and motivational speaking. We will use our two SM40s, most of our powerboat fleet and a face lifted SWE-73 from 2002.

"The current project is a completely separate operation to our long-term America’s Cup
intentions and should be considered as a simple and effective way of getting some value from our assets that are unfortunately not being used for Americas’s Cup racing at the moment."
