Marine equipment manufacture Lewmar Ltd., today announced the appointment of Ian Stevenson (44) as Product Marketing Director and Matt Johnston (33) as Sales Director. Both will report to Peter Tierney, who took over the role as Lewmar's CEO at the end of October 2008.

Stevenson has worked for Lewmar for over ten years, heading up distributor sales. During his term he created a four-fold growth within his sales channel and managed the production of the company's mainline catalogue and website. His new role will see him take control of product management and all marketing collateral produced by the company.

Johnston joined Lewmar's rigging division Navtec, in 2001. In 2004 he was appointed Custom Sales Manager, with the objective to lead Lewmar's re-entry into the grand prix race boat market. With a five fold sales increase in systems to race boats, Johnston then went on to run the UK sales team. His new appointment extends his responsibilities for sales on a global basis and encompasses OEM, Custom, Retail and Distributor sales channels.

Both Stevenson and Johnston will become part of Lewmar's new Global Management Team.

Peter Tierney, Lewmar's Chairman and CEO welcomes the internal appointments; "Matt and Ian both have sound commercial skills and extensive knowledge of the marine equipment market. Their contribution towards forming a clear strategic development for the business will be invaluable as we navigate our way through an uncertain global market."

Based in Havant, Hampshire, Lewmar supplies, designs, manufactures and distributes a range of leisure marine equipment such as anchors, winches, windlasses, hatches, hardware, rigging, steering and thrusters.

Manufacturing is located in England and the US, with sales and assembly offices in the UK, Australia, France, the Netherlands and the US.
