The Royal Southampton Yacht Club is making final preparations to again host the inaugural regatta of the IRC Solent Series with its Clarkson Cup Regatta over the weekend of 9-10 May.

The Clarkson Cup has become a popular event on the RSYC yacht racing calendar especially for IRC racers. The Clarkson Cup successful in its own right has been enhanced and complemented by becoming the preliminary event of the IRC Solent Series now in its third year and, which in the first year saw 60 boats competing in IRC and Multihull classes.

The regatta comprises four races over two days in the central Solent, starting around 10.00 each day with entries welcome from IRC, non-rated and multihull boats.

Said RSYC captain of racing, Mike Garvey: “Crews are welcome back to the Ocean Village clubhouse for supper and results and this is a great opportunity for competitors to meet up and discuss their tactics for the following day!”

The combined results from the two races of the Clarkson Cup Regatta on Saturday will comprise Race 1 of the SCRA IRC Solent Series. This is the first of a six race series taking place between May 9 and 20 September 20, each race being run by a different Solent yacht club. Entries are welcome from boats with an IRC rating of between 0.820 and 1.360. The Notice of Race can be found here.
