After a long wait ashore, day two of the D35's Corum Trophy finally got underway at 1500.

In the first attempt it was Christian Michel's Fred le Peutrec-steered Smarthome that led until the race was abandoned due to the instability and lack of wind, as the gradient and sea breezes attempted to cancel each other out.

At 16:00, the southwesterly wind had filled in to around 5-10 knots but was building.

In a reverse of the result on day one, the first race saw Ernesto Bertarelli's Alinghi SUI-1 take victory just ahead of his sister, Dona Bertarelli Spaeth and her all-female Ladycat team with Marco Simeoni's Steve Ravusson-steered Veltigroup in third. They were followed by Foncia, Zen Too, Okalys-Corum, the Ed Baird-steered Alinghi SUI 6, Julius Baer, Smarthome, Banque Populaire, Zebra 7and Romandie.com.

Alinghi's Pierre-Yves Jorand, later commented: "The competition with 12 boats is great. The French side was clearly the best this afternoon."

The second race was won by the winner from the first day - Nicolas Grange's Loick Peyron-helmed Corum Okalys, from Philippe Cardis' Julius Baer and Veltigroup, extending Okalys' overall lead in the regatta. Cardis twice finished on the podium today. "We are delighted. It was a beautiful day, a great fight," he said.

By the last race of the day the wind had built to 20 knots. In this Julius Bear led until she was overtaken by Alinghi SUI-1 which went on to win, ahead of Julius Baer with the second Alinghi yacht, SUI-6, skippered by Ed Baird, third on the podium.
