Two new specially designed ropes from Gleistein Ropes are now being presented at the “boot 2007” in Düsseldorf - the Mega T-Eight (above) and MegaTwin Zylon (below). Both ropes are characterised by extremely high strength, minimal elongation and very good handling characteristics say the company.

The Mega T-Eight is ideally suited for halyards. The Dyneema® SK78 core used reduces the tendency to creep to a minimum and therefore the halyard does not need to be adjusted so often - added to this is an abrasion-resistant cover, which is also suitable for stoppers.

Structure:
Core 12-plait from Dyneema® SK78 fibres
Intermediate cover from polyester staple fibres
Cover 24 or 32-plait from high tenacity polyester in fluo-yellow and fluo-pink, navy blue markers
Gleistein orange identification yarn

Mega T-Eight costs € 7.50 per metre for a 10mm thickness. It is available in sizes 8-16mm; other diameters can be manufactured according to customer’s wishes.

The MegaTwin Zylon is a high spec PBO deck rope and is used by BMW Oracle team. It features excellent abrasion resistance with a polyester cover which also provides a high degree of flexibility. The water-repellent coating keeps the rope dry during use and this reduces crystallisation of salt inside the rope and increases its service life.

Structure:
Core 12-plait from Zylon® (PBO) fibres with water-repellent cover
Cover 32-plait from high tenacity polyester
Basic colour grey, navy blue markers
Gleistein orange identification yarn

MegaTwin Zylon is available in diameters of 4 to 16 millimetres. At 10mm it is priced around € 22.50 per metre.
