The Breitling MedCup is gathering pace as it grows closer to the opening event in Punta Ala, Italy (23-27 May). Three newly-built TP52s have arrived Spain in the last week to begin preparing for the six-event Circuit. Platoon and Fram have arrived in Palma de Mallorca, while the Spanish boat Mutua Madrileña, has made Valencia its temporary home.

The TP52 fleet in general is beginning its training programme for the summer-long Circuit. Six TP52s will be competing in PalmaVela (21-23 April) - Mutua Madrileña, Platoon, Santa Ana (ESP), Bribón (ESP) and AIFOS (ESP). While Caixa Galicia (ESP), Tau Ceramica Andalucia (ESP), Ono (ESP) and Siemen (IRE) will be racing at the Regata Ciudad de Malaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol, over the same period.

In a week full of activity, the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club (HORC) has been confirmed as the official host yacht club and organiser of the fifth event in the Circuit to be held in Greece. HORC was founded in 1961 and is based in the ancient military port of Athens. It organises the annual Aegaen Racing Rally one of the older and most prestigious sailing events that is held in Greece.

The Breitling MedCup has also reached an historic agreement between the government of the Balearic Islands, the regional government of Ibiza and Formentera, the local authority and the Ibiza Yacht Club, to join forces to promote the closing event of the Breitling MedCup - the Balearia Trophy-Ibiza y Formentera that will be held from 18-23 September.

MedCup Management is also delighted to announce that Cava de Agustí Torelló will be the official cava for the event. This well-respected vineyard has a number of superb products to its name, including the highly awarded Kripta with its unique bottle shape.
