Mediterranean maxi season gets underway

Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy - Spring Regatta starts later this week in Portofino

The final countdown is now underway for the 24th Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy - Spring Regattas, held in Portofino on 6-8 May.

Many yachts and sailors will gather in the famous 'Borgo' for the opening of the Mediterranean Maxi sailing season, as well as the events on the dock. Among the others, there will be the traditional round-table about 'The Man and the Sea', held on Saturday at the Teatrino and dedicated to the 'Maritime Rules'.

The panel this year will include journalist Renata Molho, designer Umberto Felci, the Italian Navy Captain Paolo Sandalli and Kristian Parker of Oceana and Alessandro Cecchi Paone. They will discuss sea rules, education, the ocean environment, and the brand new Box Rules..

The Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy Spring Regattas - organised by the Yacht Club Italiano with the co-operation of the Comune di Portofino, is open to yachts over 55 feet, subdivided into Classes IMS (ORC Club) and Wally. Entry is also open to the Nautor's Swan 45, Farr 40 and Transpac 52.
