This week was one of mourning as sailors from all walks of life and nationalities remembered one of the world's greatest sailors,
Sir Peter Blake. Tragically murdered by pirates on Thursday 06 December, his friends, family and supporters joined together to celebrate his life and mourn the loss of a brilliant man on Friday 14 December at Emsworth in Hampshire. His friend and fellow sailor
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston
wrote of their friendship and Sir Peter's achievements.
On Monday Christian Fevrier published a series of photos to commemorate Sir Peter Blake. He has been a close friend of the family and this selection of photos captures not only many of the top moments in Blakey's life over the last decade but also many of the intimate moments, showing Blakey's enormous affection for his family and latterly his work as an environmentalist.
We also featured the latest instalment from Ben Ainslie and the One World America's Cup Campaign in New Zealand.
In the results section we had the latest results and report from Mark Turnball in the 49er at the Sail Brisbane regatta.
Tuesday RORC Rating Office Technical Manager, Mike Urwin, sharpened up some history and explained his vision of the future to Peter Bentley.
Ellen MacArthur came runner up for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year to David Beckham. The final vote came down to a public telephone pole, which was apparently 'very close up until the final minutes' with Britain's sailing star just falling short of the England captain.
Wednesday featured the results for the first half of the Southern Cross Cup in Sydney. Pete Cunningham told us the best ways to gain and lose weight for competitive sailing.
Thursday Featured further results and reports form the Southern Cross Cup, while Nick Moloney told of his brief six hours on board Playstation setting a new record for crossing the channel.
Friday Brought us up to date with goings on down under in The Volvo Ocean Race . While Peter Bentley sent through the latest results from the Sydney International Regatta.
