Hugh Styles diary

Thursday and day five a change of wind direction to the NE and just one race in a dying breeze. Two general recalls and two excellent starts for us, it had to be the next start that they let go when we had a bit of an issue. We got bogged down on the first leg and rounded the first mark in the thirties with plenty to do. Our unluckiest race of the regatta with a plastic bag on the rudder on the second lap we climbed up the fleet but only to 24th. Gutted as this meant we slipped back to seventh overall.
Friday and the last day, no wind to start with and none predicted at all all day, not even a suggestion of sea breeze. All the fleets were sent afloat around midday but to no avail and we did not even start a race before the abandonment flag was flown and the regatta was over.
All in all a pleasing regatta in terms of the goals we went there to achieve, just a little unlucky on the Thursday to drop back from being in fifth overall. However this puts us in good shape going into the Europeans and looking forward to getting back on the race course to show what us Brits are made of.
Many thanks for all the support from our supporters, family and sponsors Gill, Holt, Marlow, Craft Insure, Airbus UK Ltd, P&O Stena line, Fat Face, Oakley, Specialized Marine, North Sails
