Wind field data showing a light westerly wind flow over the south coast

This chart shows wind speed increasing to around 15 knots later on Saturday afternoon, and backing from W to WSW.

Picture (below) courtesy of the United States Air Force, showing a pretty weak westerly airflow over the Solent area for Saturday. This chart, for the early hours on Saturday, shows a cloud band moving east through the day, with a high chance of showers. Due to the overcast conditions, it looks like there will be little chance of any thermal enhancement to the breeze, unless we are lucky enough to get some sustained clearances in the sky prior to 1500.
