All you want to know about our Laser Radial Class bronze winner from the Volvo ISAF Youth Worlds

Wednesday July 11th 2001, Author: Sian Cowen, Location: United Kingdom

Your other top sailing achievements?
1. 1st girl under19 and 1st lady at Stokes Bay laser radial qualifier,
2. 4th girl at rya ISAF trials, Falmouth 2000
3. 3rd girl Volvo RYA UK Youth Nationals, Grafham 2000,
4. 4th Volvo RYA UK Youth Nationals, Grafham 1999

What's your greatest strength in sailing?
I am a lot fitter than most of the girls, and work a lot harder. I am the same weight as some of the girls, and not much heavier than the rest, but I work a lot harder in heavy winds. I am willing to put in the hours and make the commitments in order to achieve everything that I am capable of.

What's your greatest weakness in sailing?
I am a natural lake sailor, so I am still learning to sail the waves, although I spent a lot of time with coaches on the issue last summer, and I have improved loads. I am not wonderfully hot in really light winds, but I'm ready to learn!

What's your biggest goal in sailing?
To get some sort of a medal at the international level, whether it's an ISAF or Olympic medal.

What are your other interests away from sailing?
Rowing, netball, athletics, I do a little windsurfing as well.

Have you competed at national/international level in any other sports?
Nope

Have any of your relatives competed at national/international/Olympic level in any other sports?
Nope again
