RS:X Women

With the women racing on the same course, the formula was much the same. Spain’s Marina Alabau was fastest out to the right and overstanding, sped into the top mark first ahead of Lee-El Korzits (ISR) and Britain’s Beijing bronze medallist Bryony Shaw. Kortizs took over the lead on the second beat when Shaw dropped to fifth at the second top mark rounding. At the finish it was the Israeli who took the bullet from her Spanish training partner with the Ukraine’s Olga Maslivets third and Shaw seventh.

Race two and once again it was Alabau that banged left hardest to lead into the top mark, on this occasion ahead of Maslivets and Korzits with Bryony Shaw eighth. By the second upwind Alabau had pulled out a massive lead with Poland’s Zofia Noceti-Klepacka up to third and then into second on the final run, finishing in this order with Kortizs third.
