Rotten day for Star Worlds leaders

As Hamish Pepper and Jim Turner get their London 2012 berth for New Zealand

Thursday May 10th 2012, Author: James Boyd, Location: France

It was a day of ups and downs at the Star Worlds in Hyeres with second placed Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada coming home fifth and overall leaders Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson coming home 17th - now their discard. This leaves a five points gap between first and second going into tomorrow's medal race.

There was good news for the New Zealand team of Hamish Pepper and Jim Turner, winning today's race and securing their place at London 2012. This was also the case for the Dutch team of Michael Hestbaek and Claus Olesen, now fifth overall. Two other berths at London 2012 remain up for grabs. At present it looks like it could go to Croatia and Spain, with Greece on equal points with the Spanish duo.
