300 assemble in Italy

A fleet of about 300 teams (coming from at least 15 different countries) is expected to take part in the 18th Imperia Winter Regatta scheduled from 2-9 December 2007.
The event is organised by the Yacht Club Imperia and will be open to Laser, 420, 470, L’Equipe and RS:X classes. “We are already working hard in order to have everything ready for the sailors," commented the Chairman of YCIM, Mr Riccardo Guatelli. "The event has increased in size more and more over the last few years.”
Currently, with only a coupole of weeks untill the ISAF Grade 3 event gets underway, the Organising Commitee has already registered entries from Austria, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lituania, Monaco, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, while entries from Israel, Netherland, Poland, Souht Africa and Turkey are expected to to follow.
The 2007 format and race area will be the same as in the past, but boats and sailors will be based in the ancient harbour of Oneglia, in the easterly part of Imperia town. The move comes about due to construction work being carried out at the usuall venue, Porto Maurizio.
The Laser and RS:X fleets will race from 2-5 December while the 470, 420 and L’Equipe classes will race from 6-9 December.
The main sponsor of IWR 2007 will be the famous 150 year old hat company, Borsalino.
