UD-18 training

A talent identification session for the UD-18 is set to be held at WPNSA tomorrow and Thursday

The RYA is running a talent identification session on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for sailors looking to get involved in the newest Paralympic sailing class, the UD18.

The UD18 – a two-person keelboat – will feature for the first time at the 2008 Paralympic regatta in Qingdao.

Training for Paralympic hopefuls at WPNSA will be held in Martin 16s, with the training session culminating in a final race series.

An “Introduction to the UD18” meeting will also be held on 7pm on 9 February, where sailors can get an overview of Olympic and Paralympic competition and training from RYA Olympic Manager Stephen Park, and other members of the RYA Paralympic Steering Group. This will be an opportunity to learn more about this new class, and have an open discussion on the RYA’s intended UD18 campaign.

All interested sailors are welcome, and should register their attendance in advance with RYA Sailability Racing Development Coach George Barker.
