Perfect conditions for the GP14 Open Meeting at Hampton Sailing Club

The sixteen boats that contested the GP14 Open Meeting at Hampton sailing club enjoyed excellent sailing conditions, with good winds and sunshine greeting the visitors from Shustoke, BTYC Sailsports and North Herts East Beds sailing clubs and this contributed to a competitive and well fought series of races.

In race one 13853 sailed by Mike Abbott crewed by Debra Harris from BTYC were to lead from the start, followed home by 13887, Roger Walton from BTYC crewed by Ben Evans. Whist in third place was 13787 Liz Hall crewed by Russlan Scutelnic from BTYC.

Race two saw a change of fortune for Mike Abbott as he could only manage a fifth spot, this time honours going to 13787, Liz Hall. In second spot was 13887, Roger Walton, having climbed from tenth at the end of the first lap, third place being taken by 12791, Phillip Wood crewed by Steve Goulter from Hampton Sailing Club.

The Third and deciding race was won by 13887 sailed by Roger Walton, having led from start to finish. Second spot being taken by 13710, Bill Gill crewed by Sue Gill from Shustoke. In third place, having been in seventh position on the first lap, was 13853 Mike Abbott and Debra Harris from BTYC.

In addition to prizes for the first four boats, a prize to the first juniors was given to 12315 helmed by Charles Anderson and crewed by Susannah Bell from Hampton. These finishing in a very creditable 12th position overall.
