Flying Fifteen Worlds go to Australians

A strong finish by the New Zealanders Aaron Goodmanson and Alister Rowlands, winning the final race, was not enough, after discards came into play to take the Dulux Aquanamel Flying Fifteen Worlds.

The last race on Friday sailed from the Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland did not alter the top three positions from yesterday.

Nick and Janet Jerwood won the championship with a four point margin from top British pair Charles Apthorp and Alan Green.

New Zealander, Goodmanson spoke to Jodie Perkins of Yachting New Zealand:
"We had a great lead-up to this regatta and we're pretty stoked with the result. We went to Adelaide for the Aussie Nationals in January and finished fourth there, and then had a good build-up regatta with a fifth at the New Zealand Nationals last week."

Conditions have been variable throughout the week-long regatta with start delays due to light winds earlier in the week. "Our aim was to try and finish in the top 10 in all of the races. Really the wind came in for us a little too late. We were hoping for stronger breeze, but it only came in the last couple of days," said Goodmanson.
