Anglo Irish Bank PLC today announced a one-year title sponsorship deal with the Irish Sailing Association (ISA). The partnership was announced formally today at an event attended by John O'Donoghue TD, Minister of Arts, Sport and Tourism and John Treacy, Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council.
Under the terms of the agreement, Anglo Irish Bank becomes the title sponsor of the ISA for one year. Among the events that the bank will host are the Anglo Irish Bank Topper European Championships, the Anglo Irish Bank Etchells European Championships and the Anglo Irish Bank Helmsman's Championship of Ireland. Mary Nolan, Group Marketing and Communications Manager at Anglo Irish Bank, said: "We are delighted to engage in this partnership with the Irish Sailing Association. Sailing is rooted in the history and heritage of this country and we look forward to supporting the ISA in their events for the year to encourage, drive and create awareness of our sailing talent and enthusiasm for this sport in Ireland."
The ISA will use the funds available through the sponsorship to develop the organisation, build the sport of sailing at a grass-roots level, and improve the marketing of its products and services. ISA President Robert Dix commented: "The Irish Sailing Association is very pleased to be working with as prestigious an organisation as Anglo Irish Bank. Enticing them on board is a testament to the professionalism and drive of our organisation. I am confident that our partnership with Anglo Irish Bank will allow us to substantially improve the support of our sailing events in Ireland and will lead to greater general awareness of our activities."
