Fireball training

Weekend long seminars announced

What was the most successful Fireball event of 2003? The World Championships in Kenya? The generously sponsored Typhoon Super Series? Fireballs winning the Symmetric Grand Prix? Well for many it was none of these it was the Fireball Class Association Training Weekend at Draycote in early May!

The training weekend proved to be so successful last year, and was so over-subscribed that in 2004 the Class is putting on two weekends. The first will be at Weir Wood SC (near East Grinstead) on the weekend of 22-23 May. The second will be back at Draycote Water SC (near Rugby) on the weekend of 19-20 June.

Once again the Class has secured the services of 1997 Fireball World Champion, Sailmaker and Olympic 470 coach Adam Bowers. Adam’s enthusiasm for his sport is totally addictive and that really comes across in the coaching. There’s guaranteed to be something to help everyone’s sailing, from the novice club sailor to potential national’s top ten wannabes.

During the weekend there will be both on the water and off the water sessions, giving the chance to work on boat set-up, boat handling and tactics. Video cameras will be on hand to record everyone’s progress and to allow extensive analysis in the bar afterwards over a beer or three.

Entry is limited to forty boats at each event so to save disappointment contact the Fireball Fleet Training Officer, Rachel Keeling, on 020 7831 8068 or by email.
