Gearing up for the Europeans

Despite the winter, snow and ice over the last months, spring is now in the air, warmer weather is being experienced and trees and flowers are coming alive.
Yesterday all the yachts in winther storage on shore at Fjaerholmen were launched and it is growing the enthusiasm for sailing at Tonsberg, Norway, the venue for the 2004 Soling Europeans.
The event is developing; The race management team has been established and the equipment to be used decided upon.
The social events have been agreed and consist of Opening cermony in Tonsberg at Slottsfjellet, a site used to defend Tonsberg from enemies 1000 years ago. This will be on 3 August. On Thursday 5 August, the Soling party will be arranged at Fjaerholmen, an outdoor event where all competitors, visitors and club memebers will get together make friendship and have a pleasant evening in a good summer setting. Saturday evening 7 August the prizegiving dinner will be a sit down three course dinner in the club house.
To date five countries are already on the entry list and this keeps growing. A B category fleet is also planning on attending in the Fjord against top crews coming from all over the world. Tonsberg is already known as the Biggest Soling Town with a fleet of 25 boats.
