Even windier Hyeres

Thursday April 29th 2004, Author: Sacha Oswald, Location: United Kingdom
On the penultimate day of Hyeres Olympic Week, storm force winds put a stop to sailing, leaving RYA Team GBR medalling in four classes going into the final day of racing.

Winds gusting over 35 knots saw the race committee abandon racing this afternoon for all fleets as the waves crashed over the harbour wall in Hyeres.

The race schedule has been amended for tomorrow and racing will commence at 10 00 with a minimum of two races scheduled for all classes.

Going into the final day of racing RYA team GBR lead in two classes; Shirley Robertson, Sarah Ayton and Sarah Webb in the Yngling class and Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield in the 470 men’s class. Christina Bassadone and Katherine Hopson are currently placed second overall in the 470 women’s class and Allan Smith is third in the 2.4mR.
