Supernovas in Oxford

26 Supernovas attended the Oxford S.C. open meeting on July 26.

In the first race Steve Hawley (Severn S.C.) was first to the windward mark, followed by Adrian Hollier (West Oxfordshire S.C.),Geoff. Worrall (Oxford S.C.) and Chris Hawley (Severn S.C.) first race. Steve Hawley held his lead to win the race.

There were a number of place changes in the rest of the fleet before Andy Flitcroft (Bolton S.C.), Mike Gibson (Bartley S.C.) took second place. with Mike Gibson (Bartley S.C.) third and Geoff. Childs (West Oxfordshire S.C.) fourth. Gibson was first to the windward mark in the second race Follwed by Simon Jones(Wimbleball S.C.), Adrian Hollier (West Oxfordshire S.C.) and Mark Giles(West Oxfordshire S.C.).

Gibson held onto the lead until the windward leg of the third lap when Flitcroft took the lead and went on to win the race with Hollier second, Gibson third, and Chris Hawley fourth.Gibson was first to the windward mark in the third race, sailed back to back, but he was passed by Chris Hawley before the end of the first lap. Gibson retook the lead, which he held until he was overtaken by Hollier who managed to keep his lead to the finish. Gibson was second, with Chris Hawley third and Flitcroft fourth.This produced a tie for first place between Flitcroft and Hollier with Hollier taking the trophy as he won the last race.
