Alex Thomson Racing has announced that Mercedes-Benz has joined HUGO BOSS as a core sponsor of the team’s IMOCA 60 Ocean Masters campaign.

Yesterday’s announcement at the World Premiere of the Mercedes-Benz GLC in Metzingen brings the prestigious global automotive company into the offshore sailing world and creates a new and exciting partnership for the team and HUGO BOSS. The Mercedes-Benz heritage compliments Alex Thomson Racing’s values of passion, success, dynamic performance, innovation and adventure.

Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars said “We are happy to announce our new co-operation with Alex Thomson Racing together with HUGO BOSS. The partnership is part of our marketing strategy of establishing co-operative arrangements with carefully selected people and brands. The drive to perform and the passion to create the best connects all three partners perfectly”

Gerd von Podewils, Senior Vice President of Global Communications at HUGO BOSS said “Having established successful partnerships with both Alex Thomson Racing and Mercedes-Benz, we are delighted that Mercedes-Benz are now joining us on this inspiring project. I look forward to joining forces on future ventures and working together to create new synergies.”

The new sponsorship with Mercedes-Benz is announced ahead of the launch of Alex Thomson’s new racing yacht later this summer, in the build up to the circuit’s pinnacle event - The Vendée Globe, which starts in November 2016.

Team CEO Stewart Hosford - “We are really delighted to be working alongside such a respected company as Mercedes-Benz. As demonstrated yesterday in Metzingen at the World Premiere, both HUGO BOSS and Mercedes-Benz are aligned with their core values and these align perfectly with the Ocean Masters and our team’s values and ambitions. We look forward to a long and strategic partnership in the years ahead”.
