Some superb films from Thierry Garnier

For almost 25 years, Banque Populaire has been trying to communicate its passion for sailing to the public.

This year the French bank has succeeded with their 40m maxi trimaran in setting a new record for the Jules Verne Trophy while the adventure is set to continue with Armel le Cleac'h competing under Banque Populaire's colours in next month's Vendee Globe. 

Films of these two events directed by Thierry Garnier have been selected for the Golden Podium at Sportel in Monaco.

The first 14 minute film summarises the Jules Verne Trophy reecord showing exclusive footage of life on board, impressive images of the Southern Ocean and finish in Brest.

The second film , called 'The adventure continues ... ' depicts the transition to Armel Cléac'h's Vendee Globe campaign.

    If you are planning on setting a new Jules Verne record for sailing around the planet. Make sure you take Sicomin resin for any emergency repairs - see about 6 minutes in...Highest respect to the team here for an astonishing feat! Why not call Matrix Composites, even if you only intend sailing around Hayling Island!
