A chance to race on board ICAP Leopard

Place to be auctioned in aid of Sail4Cancer

Over the winter ICAP Leopard has been undergoing a substantial refit, transforming her into a luxury superyacht. This summer the 100ft Farr design returns to the race course starting on 30 June with the JP Morgan Assetment Management Round the Island Race, for which she holds the monohull race record.

Following this, the Superyacht Cup will be held in Cowes over 22-25 July. For this event the official charity will be Sail 4 Cancer and ICAP Leopard owner Mike Slade has chosen to support this charity donating as a special prize the opportunity for a special guest to compete on board ICAP Leopard during the JP Morgan Assetment Management Round the Island Race in 2013. Whilst ICAP Leopard is available for luxury corporate charters, a place aboard the Supermaxi for the Round the Island Race has never been made available before. Potential winners have the opportunity to bid for this prize in a silent auction.

“When I found out what Sail 4 Cancer was all about, I was compelled to get involved," commented Slade. "It is a tremendous cause and one that I think the whole yachting community should embrace. I can assure that whoever makes the highest bid for the auction prize is in for a real treat, I will personally guarantee that."

For the past ten years Sail 4 Cancer has helped cancer patients by offering the whole family the opportunity to go on a water-based break. The charity now helps some 500 people every year through sponsored ocean cruises, sailing days, riverboat adventures and special projects focussed on teenage cancer patients and young carers.

Graham Precey, Chair of Trustees at Sail 4 Cancer said: "We are immensely grateful to Mike and the ICAP Leopard team for making this incredible prize available to one lucky bidder. What’s great is that the funds generated from that auction will also enable even more families affected by cancer to get out on the water. Everyone is a winner!"

The Sail 4 Cancer Auction will be a silent one; bids must be made by email before midnight on 25 July 2012 to Fundraising Manager Lizette Van Niekerk to lvniekerk@sail4cancer.org
