Don't break the boat! In his latest blog, Banque Populaire's sole British crewman, Brian Thompson, explains how the weather seems to be panning out for them, how they are doing their utmost to look after the boat,  but the rest - unexpected collisions with floating objects, being a real fear - remains in the lap of the Gods.

At the latest sched Banque Populaire has just 483 miles to go and has been averaging a casual 33.8 knots for the last four hours. If they keep this up then their ETA at the Ushant-Lizard finish line is 2100 GMT tonight. They will then have to tool around for a while as they are not scheduled to make their triumphant arrival into Brest until tomorrow morning.

At the latest sched the 40m trimaran was 250 miles from the Fastnet Rock, still on starboard gybe with the wind now having veered into the  WSW as they continue their lap of the substantial area of high pressure now located SW of the Bay of Biscay.
