Banque Populaire this morning continue to struggle with more than 1000 miles left to go to reach Cape Horn. After attempting to get through the ice zone, so they have continued to be dogged by running into light winds in the ridge to their east - a situation similar to that the Volvo Ocean Race boats faced as they entered the Indian Ocean last week.

In an attempt to get around the bottom of the ridge, Banque Populaire has sailed all the way down into the Screaming 60s - in the fact the furthest south we can remember any race boat having gone for some considerable time. Hopefully this tactic will allow her to find wind while also allowing her a faster point of sail to get to the Horn once she does get through. Her pace looks set to increase over the course of today.
