Eliés and Beyou claim prologue
One week out from the start of the Figaro class' doublehanded Transat AG2R La Mondiale, so the prologue this Sunday off Concarneau was won by IMOCA 60 skippers Yann Eliés and Jeremie Beyou on board Generali Europ Assistance. This follows three weeks of intensive training for the duo.
The prologue for the 25 Figaros and their crews was run on a nine mile long course in sunny conditions and an ideal 10-12 knot northeasterly.
The start was at 14:30 and it was Cheminees Poujoulat, sailed by double Velux 5 Oceans winner Bernard Stamm and Gildas Mahé, who got off to the best start. However on the run down to the Is Linuen mark, they suffered a problem with their water ballast and were overhauled by Eliés and Beyou, who had got off to a slow start.
Generali Europ Assistance was followed by Gildas Morvan and Bertrand de Broc on Cercle Vert, Richard Lédée and Christophe Lebas on MemoireStBarth.com, then Cheminees Poujoulat and past Solitaire winner Eric Drouglazet and Laurent Pellecuer on Luisina.
