The Bols super maxi has broken the 16-year old record in Poland’s most prestigious 200 nautical miles long route from Swinoujscie to Gdynia by 7 hours 12 minutes. The previous record time was 23 hours 12 minutes.
Leaving the port of Swinoujscie at 10:46am CET on Monday, Bols reached an average of 15 knots during the first part of the record attempt. Before diminishing winds slowed the boat’s speed to 8 knots at around 8pm, it managed to peak at 18 knots.
Occasional rain and mist were an added challenge easily overcome by the crew during the last part of the record attempt. After just 16 hours of sailing Bols reached the port of Gdynia at 2:46am on Tuesday 29th July.
Stefan Laux, global Bols brand group director said: “This is another great win which extols our crew motto ‘No Bols, no Glory’. After smashing the record in Denmark’s Sjaelland Rundt by 7 hours as well as victory in the Accenture Gotland Runt, our record-breaking time for the Swinoujscie-Gdynia distance provides a hat trick of success at the mid-way point of our 2003 summer tour.
