The Around Alone fleet are battening down hatches as they experience a cold front which is forecast to be followed by stiff southwesterly winds.

There is still a fear of ice. Race leader Bernard Stamm has reported seeing ice at 53deg 44S 133deg 02w. Yet Thierry Dubois remains doggedly in the south - a move which is paying off as the winds are stronger there.

After briefly pulling up to fifth over the weekend Emma Richards is now back to sixth.
