Ned Greene, principal of Grog & Gruel of Wilmington, DE and William White, M.D., Chairman of the Bermuda Ocean Race Committee, has announced that Grog & Gruel Provisioning has become the name sponsor of this prestigious bi-annual race. The BOR 2004 will be known as the Grog & Gruel Bermuda Ocean Race through to 2006.
“I am very excited about being a partner in this unique sailing event and look forward to actively participating, both as sponsor and racer,” said Ned Greene, President and founder of Grog & Gruel.
“We are delighted to welcome Grog & Gruel onboard, particularly since grog and gruel are a necessity of offshore racing as well as sailing in general, said Chairman White. “Crew, just like an army, travels on its stomach,” he said. “This sponsorship is a really good fit with racing sailboats,” he concluded.
Grog & Gruel launched its revolutionary Fresh Gruel packed pre-prepared gourmet meals at the Tradewinds Charters tent during the 2003 Annapolis Sailboat Show. The company also catered Sunseeker Club Motor Yachts and Let’s Go Cruising, an Annapolis based yacht charter company. “Response during our trials was better than we expected. We are now gearing up for the 2004 season starting with the lead sponsorship of the 2004 Bermuda Ocean Race, “said Greene.
Grog & Gruel is building a great reputation among local entrepreneurs who have used their service. “We are so impressed with Grog & Gruel’s new packaging and food that we intend to recommend them to all our charter clients,” said Scott Farquson, Vice President of Tradewinds Annapolis.
Douglass Dillard, President of the Sunseeker Club, said “I marveled that Grog & Gruel catered an event for over 50 people–all prepared in a Jeanneau 42 galley. From the hors d’ouevres to the filet mignon, the food was spectacular.”
